Miscellaneous Lore MiscLore

General Information
This section and its following posts will be regularly updated with approved community suggestions for minor details aimed to flesh out the world of Vyldermire for better character immersion. We will cover such things as unique and original plants, diseases, drugs, minor gods, and possibly more in the future. These tidbits of information can be freely referenced in posts and plots on the site. They cannot be used in PVP or PVE combat and will not affect stats.

Though they can be loosely based on real-world things in each of the categories, submissions cannot be the actual real-life thing. There are some real-life things already in existence in Vyldermire that were likely brought by Otherworlders, like potatoes and other very common veggies, some flowers that share the same name, common real-life illnesses, and even versions of real-life religions and their gods [Please see Religion in Vyldermire]. However, keep in mind that even though these similar real-life things exist, they aren't completely identical to their real-world versions due to years of Vyldermirean influence, but they also do not require listing.

Submissions should possess some fantastic property or magical uniqueness to make them interesting and important. Give plants fun and magical effects! Invent new diseases with either dire or fun symptoms and very specific cures! Create some fantasy drugs with interesting side effects that hurt, heal, or add a little spice to recreational hours! Make up some minor gods that embody serious and/or silly concepts with interesting rituals that may or may not actually be real!

Submissions, once approved and added, will be officially part of the lore of our site and thus subject to use by the site as a whole. They will potentially be altered as needed by the admin and development team as things progress. Please make sure you are prepared to creatively part with your submissions, as you will no longer retain control once they are approved. Unapproved submissions will not be recognized sitewide and, in some cases, will not be able to be used in personal plot or posts if it is deemed that they break lore.

Please use the following template for submissions!
Code:

[b]Category:[/b] [plant, disease, drug, minor gods, other]
[b]Location(s):[/b] [when applicable, usually for plants and minor gods]
[b]Description:[/b] [please be as detailed but as concise as possible but try not to exceed 300 words. plants: what does it look like and what does it do? diseases: what are the symptoms, means of contraction, and possible treatments or cures? drugs: what are its uses, how potent is it, what are its effects on the body and mind, and if it is ultimately harmful or helpful? minor gods: what are the local beliefs, what aspects of life do they embody (up to 3), what offerings do they like if any? please do not reference nobility or any other position in these submissions and take care not to alter existing lore or locations, as per usual. it is not recommended to reference or invent too much history in descriptions at the risk of conflicts with existing lore, so please keep to facts and applicable details of function rather than who discovered it or where they were first seen, etc.]
[b]Picture Link[/b]: [optional but encouraged for plants. please do not include images that could be used as face claims for minor gods, instead opt for one-off art, your own art, or nothing. size images to 150x150 pixels.]

Miscellaneous Lore Plant

FLEUVE'IR LANTERN

Location:
Everywhere

Description:
The petals of this flower are pearlescent and arch upward from the base like an ethereal crown around a glowing center. From that center a ball of light floats up and hovers just above the petals, intangible but warm to curious fingers. Fleuve'ir Lanterns glow where ever they grow, which can be anywhere from on trees, to the ground, to on rocks within any climate and as long as they leylines are strong. Within somewhere like Rivengate, they are much harder to grow and their glow is very dim. Once plucked, as long as they're in water, they will continue to glow. People use them as nightlights in homes, along walkways, and especially in Church of Fleuve'ir chapels as well as the chapels of the minor gods. Doctors see them as a blessing from Fleuve'ir, using them as a vomiting agent when something harmful has been ingested. When consumed, it induces glowy rainbow barfing, and is quite a popular prank or dare amongst young Vyldermireans.

SEASHROOM

Location:
Oceans

Description:
Seashrooms grow on the bottom of the ocean. Unless one wants to go diving, they are only easily attained during the night of the Moondance Festival, when the oceans draw back. When consumed, they provide a wonderful calming effect that aids in meditating and improved mental health.

Miscellaneous Lore Minor_gods

TABYTHI THE HELLCAT

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Small chapels dedicated to Tabythi, the hellcat deity many Neko worship as their patron saint are all over Anthro territory. Regardless of sub-species, one might pray for the favor of the elements either in nature or magic, or appreciate the goddess's innate wildness by throwing wild parties!

FIDORIC THE AMAROK

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Believed to have shared his godly blood with the Inu, Fidoric the Amarok is their patron saint. To those that worship the god, they seek the intimidating qualities of strength, comfort in loneliness, and for difficult times to pass swiftly. It's a favorite of warriors and businessmen alike.

TODANIA THE INARI MESSENGER

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Todania the Inari Messenger is the patron saint of the Kitsune sub-species. The goddess's worshippers might come to offer prayers asking for words of wisdom from the gods and goddesses and ancestors to guide them. They are generally very spiritual people. They can also be elusive, sneaky, and deceptive if they observe Todania's more impish qualities, which many did during the war to stay alive.

LOLAR THE MOON RABBIT

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Lapin regard Lolar the Moon Rabbit as the deity responsible for their existence and have thus made her their patron saint. Many flock to Lolar chapels to pray for healing and consult the priests and priestesses there for herbal remedies. Sometimes these chapels even become infirmaries and the attendants become more like nurses. It's tradition to visit at night if at all possible, and praying beneath the moonlight is said to facilitate healing and increase fertility.

MOTHHEBE THE ELDER DRAGON

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Draconytes are among the most devout to the deity they believe they owe their blood to, their patron saint Mothhebe the Elder Dragon. Those that come to worship at Mothhebe chapels might be seeking the courage to begin new endeavors, or perhaps safety on long trips and adventures. More stationary believers might seek maturity and blessings for long life and the pursuit of worldly knowledge.

KESFAW THE PHOENIX

Location:
Northern Miriad

Description:
Avians are proud to call Kesfaw the Phoenix their patron saint, since they firmly believe the undying creature thoughtfully gave them life. Worshippers of Kesfaw primarily pray for rejuvenation and and tenacity. They few the phoenix as a god of unlimited chances to keep trying to get whatever they're attempting right. More fanatical believers will pray for blessings of immortality.

RENDEI

Location:
Wherever the Anthros (mainly Inu) live in diaspora

Description:
Worship of Rendei is widely varied with accounts ranging from her being an aspect of Fleuve'ir to a completely separate entity. She is a goddess or 'mother spirit' associated with the moon, night, and wolves. Hence, most of her existing and recorded worship is by small Inu packs and her 'cult' is passed down by oral tradition. Linked with her worship are the Moondance Festival in Miriad, small offerings of meat, berries & honey, and daily prayer before sleeping.
