In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Empty In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance)

Post by Karimah Thu Nov 04, 2021 10:14 pm

Through the fragrant, luminescent swirls of smoke that curled up in such pretty ringlets from the cool night air; one could see that the lively beach-party consisted of too many people to count on just one hand and among them was a creature easily mistaken for a harmless trail of wispy, glowing incense as it squeezed between the dancing hordes.

“Hakuri?” she called out into the night, such a voice softer than the strings of a weeping violin, only to have his name be carried away by a vigorous wind and fall upon the ears of the seemingly deaf.

As the anxious puff thought back to how easily her friend slipped away from her care, an overwhelming pang of worry struck through her intangible heart like a sword and made her entire spirit quiver. Had she any eyes they would have encountered a mist of tears, a natural reaction stemming from extreme levels of concern and frustration the djinni wasn’t accustomed to experiencing in great doses. It was a small thing to fret over, but she did not possess the same level of understanding as the many that were born into this world. She had holes, loose strings in the archives of her otherworldly comprehension. She was a walking encyclopedia when it came to all things home.

Her real home.

Not here; so she was remarkably useless, a new brand of stupid. That was another issue as opposed to her now moody magic. There were times she could make astounding miracles happen, and then there were other times she could not even bless an ant with a leaf—- even if it kindly asked her to. Being an otherworlder, her magic did not align well here, which ultimately explained why she couldn’t merely resolve this by teleporting to him.

She wished for nothing but his safety and good health if she was destined to never see him again.

“He only just learned the purpose of clothing. W-What will become of him?” sniffed the trembling words of a friend to another who could not be present to hear her distress. “Ma’a salama. May you be accompanied with peace and pretty flowers.”

Then music that wasn’t there before suddenly pierced the darkness and vibrations of rhythmic proportions rumbled in the bodies of every dancing participant, the sands were alive with colors that would have made Saeven’s stunning fashion sense blush several shades of the deepest crimson-red and perhaps go straight into hiding forever from the shame.

Karimah screamed as the cheering commenced and the thunderous applause wracked her very core. It was a necessary distraction for the saddened member of the djinn, but not particularly the type of wake up call she had hoped for as she spiraled downward and hit the ground with a resounding “Oh!”

Rising from the plumes of glittering smoke appeared a silvery-haired woman with a pink blouse that was partially open, exposing a rather plain, green bikini and to compliment it were brown sandals that seemed soundless as she moved through the crowd— a crowd that had her on edge.

“Hello,” she greeted simply, as though she hadn't been fighting the silly urge to cry several seconds ago.

The bewildered few simply eased back into what they were doing before she awkwardly greeted them and at this time did she saunter rapidly through the mass of the colorfully painted. This was a joyous time for everyone, except for the genie who was uneducated in all things pertaining to their traditions.

Were they offering sacrifices in the name of the moon? She grabbed the sides of her face, froze in the midst of the festivities with that foreign train of thought, and gasped audibly.

No, that was too barbaric.

She giggled nervously.

“I may be a little overwhelmed.” Whispered Karimah, her eyes widening dramatically as a red liquid inconveniently stained the sands and with it came a startled cry from a partygoer who laughed off the loss less than a minute after the accidental spill. She tiptoed around it and hid her face as she scurried over to a bar and ordered herself a drink that was liver-friendly. She needed to relax! And what better way to do so than to enjoy the sweetest fruit juice in solitude?

It seemed, however, after paying the server that the young woman  somehow managed to get her order mixed up with somebody else’s drink.

The liquid sugar was so delightfully overpowering to the girl, that she suspected nothing of it possessing the glorious traces of alcohol and nursed the straw like her life depended on it. A coo of fleeting happiness escaped her lips as she found her perch upon the sand and sat pitifully alongside her strange misery.

She would sip it away stubbornly, knitting her bold eyebrows together in uncharacteristic, stony silence.

Stranded in a world she once beheld with such wonder; now everything about it practically scared her into a corner.

She huffed.

“What is the significance of the moon, and why is it so important?” she asked, meaning no real disrespect in her genuinely curious tone—-despite the odd nature of her sudden brooding. She knew why it was a necessary part of nature, but what were the beliefs that moved these people so.

As if on cue, a pamphlet of some sort, almost too magically, slapped her right in the face.

“Thank you very much,” she mumbled into the paper, bowing her head as it fell from her pink countenance to her warm lap. She gingerly opened the article and traced her eyes over the description.

Insightful.

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Sunshine-Beach-18.7.2018

---

“Seven, six, five, four, thr… Woooooo!” the cheer’s erupted in celebration from a small group amidst the ocean of celebration. Their calls blending within that of the music and revelry of a whole beach in ecstasy for the moondance. Their bodies swaying in disorganised dance just like the rest, moving with energy and excitement yet lacking in purpose or rhythm beyond the heartbeat of the music washing over the. Their focus was focused on one figure rather than the wider party, that of a young women sat upon the shoulders of a tall Anthro, empty bottle in hand as she finished the challenge with almost three seconds to spair.

“YA lyublyu eto mesto!” She screamed, ending her words with a wolf like howl as she dropped the empty bottle for one of the others to catch, none having any idea what she just said but cheering in unison regardless. Their wolf like howls echoing across some of the partiers as others began to howl or yelp like beasts even if none had any idea as to why. While the sound was replaced by laughter and outbursts of half arsed singing the girl raised up high reached into her pocket and retrieved a small tube, filled with easily washable and non toxic neon purplish pink paint. She squeezed some more of it onto her palm before returning the tube, spreading the paint between both palms for even coverage before she reached down and grasped the face of the figure holding her aloft, marking them with two grasping upside down hands as those around them cried even more in hysterics.

Though they laughed too it was clear they were caught off guard, swinging their head back to look at her but with too much sudden shift in gravity, their head pushing her core back enough that she was accidentally send tumbling backwards from their shoulders. When she hit the floor it was knees first, her hands reaching out to stop the floor before her face could dive to meet it too, and the sand of the beach sticking slightly to what paint was left on her skin. “Oh shit Isla are you okay?” They asked in a slight panic, turning quickly to look at their new friend who was already back to her feet, an adrenaline fuelled smirk on her face as she wiped both hands against each other to try and clear off the sand.

“I live, though i may need another drink.” She sighed out with a calm and cool ease as she took a deep breath and steadied her head after the semi flip she had done to not land head first. Standing amidst the group of improvised friends was the silver haired Lioness of Rivengate. The back of her hair tied into a ponytail though with much of he fringe shooting out in her usual style. Dressed for the heat and showing no signs of the battle scars that adorned her, Isla looked down to realise just how much paint covered her. She wore Denim shorts and combat boots, a cropped white shirt covering her chest and a sports bra underneath. The neon purplish pink paint wove itself in spirals around her arms and legs like religious tattoos or war paint, hand prints in it also left marks on some of her clothing plus one in green to the right of her midriff. When one of the others nearby offered her a towel to properly tip her hands clean she bowed her head in a sudden and unspoken thanks before handing it back. “I maybe find some of you later, though probably unlikely.”

With a blunt but understood goodbye she waved them farewell and made her way towards the closest pop up bar. She dodged in-between dancers and designated escorts along the route, bumping into others a couple times though only punching one when they were rude. When she was close to the bar however she almost tripped over one figure sat upon the sand, her silver hair much like Isla’s own though her tanned skin a beautiful contrast to the pale complexion of Isla’s own. She looked down and was about to give an apology when she was hit by a realisation, did she recognise this person? They grasped a drink in they hands as she read from a pamphlet, the confused yet cute expression in her eyes hitting Isla with a name.

“Kari?” It blurted out of her, she stepped back to get a clearer look but quickly slid down to her knees in front of the girl as she confirmed her realisation. “Karimah! It is you, you are real! I mean of course you are real but like, i am not seeing you through a screen my friend.” The joyfully surprised grin on the warrior’s face was hit with an awkwardly wide eyes awareness she was being very sudden. “Oh erm, hello. Isla, from Vycon, i said you looked like confused dog once…” She narrowed her eyes, looking down at the pamphlet then back to Kari’s eyes. “You look like confused puppy now, what is wrong?”

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Empty Re: In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance)

Post by Izou Sun Nov 14, 2021 2:28 pm

“Scram!!” Izou roared at the top of his lungs as a sheathed katana appeared in his right hand and was stabbed sheathe-first into the sand in front of him. A murderous glare, and equally violent aura, was released into the surrounding area around him, shooting chills down the spines of the young men that had been buzzing around him like flies. Getting hit on by guys was a regular thing for Izou, where those men would usually get a death stare or find their mouth losing a tooth or two if he was slightly more irritated. But to actually try and disturb him while he was in the middle of gambling was pretty much a death wish.

The sudden turn of events was like a wet blanket over this particular area of the beach party. And Izou was ready to make that wet blanket drip with blood if they continued pissing him off.

He had looked forward to this beach party, a celebration of the Moondance event, where he knew gambling and booze would definitely be in full swing. He had fully expected to go all out with his money tonight.

What he hadn’t expected was for him to get an injury across his chest two days ago. He cursed inwardly at the nurse that had tended to his wound. On a daily basis, Izou’s more feminine appearance and physique was already enough to make people think he was a female and become the target of catcalls. However, the bandages around his chest, slightly hidden by his red and white hoodie, coupled with his beach shorts, had unfortunately made many people think of him as a boyish girl. It had made the situation much worse.

With the impromptu gambling ended before anything could be concluded, Izou grabbed his gold coins and left while the group was still recovering from the shock he had given them.

As he walked away, Izou swung his right hand once and allowed his katana to shimmer away like a mirage, while his left hand pulled up his hoodie to cover his head. Mumbling inaudibly, Izou navigated his way through the throng of people in search of his next haunt, be it a place where he could enjoy a drink or another chance to increase his finances.

Every now and then, he would have to fend off advances from the same sex who had mistaken him for another female partygoer. And every single time, Izou would give them a death glare from beneath his hoodie, releasing his killing aura in a more pinpointed method at the offending person, instead of letting it explode outwards again. The moment he had dazed them, Izou would snake away.

By the time the fifth time had passed, Izou was already puffing on a cigarette beneath his hoodie, his mood absolutely in the gutters.

He stopped at the next bar that he arrived at and ordered a huge glass of beer. The size of the glass was larger than normal, but for Izou, it was worth the price. Holding the seemingly heavy glass in his left hand and sipping as he walked, looking for the perfect spot to just plop down and enjoy the atmosphere without having to fight off flirters mistaking his gender again, Izou moved towards the quieter parts of the beach.

However, his luck was bad. Out of nowhere, someone bumped into from behind, stepping on his sandals as well. Caught off guard, Izou tipped over forward. The glass of beer in his right hand was splashed forward as well.

And to add on to the bad luck, there were two girls with silver hair sitting on the sand in front of him, right where the mass of liquid was headed for.

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) X4zJMoO

Abelios loved parties. The giant man had been enjoying himself immensely since the festivities around Mirinah had begun. As soon as he’d heard about a giant beach party going on, he knew it would be a day to remember. Throngs of people gathered on the sands to dance, drink, and celebrate. It was everything he loved in one place, a time to indulge in his vices among those who sought to do the same.

Already several strong drinks in, the Otherworlder was in a great mood. It was rare for him to have stints of happiness lately, so he was leaning into the good feelings as much as he could. The only thing that put a damper on his celebrations was the seafood. Long ago, Abe’s father had left their home planet. Years later when he returned, he took little Abe with him to a different planet. While experiencing the different cultures around that world, the two had tried some crab at an oceanside restaurant. As soon as the smell hit Abe’s nose, he’d nearly vomited. Since then, he couldn’t stand the scent of fishy foods.

Unfortunately, this celebration was chock full of seafood. Shrimp, crab, oysters, and a myriad of fish lined every food booth and table. Since the tide had receded, everyone had been scouring the tide pools to catch fresh sea creatures. Several large fires dotted the beaches, stacked high with spits and trays full of cooking fishy food. The titan had done his best to avoid the fires and their seafood scents, so he’d stuck to the areas where music was played and people danced in writhing masses with hardly any space between them.

With several hours of dancing under his belt, he was in need of a break. Abe had wandered off from the crowds in search of some fresh water and a beer. As he waited in line at a bar, he rummaged around in the pockets of his blue gradient swim trunks, absentmindedly searching for some vigs as his eyes scanned the people around him.

Right before his eyes, an attractive person (who he assumed was a woman) began to tip over after being bumped by someone walking by. “Woah!” Abe cried as he leapt forward, sprinting a few steps and extending his arms. He covered ground quickly and scooped the falling lady up in his arms, barely catching her before she crashed into the sand. Straightening up quickly, Abe grinned at the stranger he now held bridal style in his arms. By some miracle, a portion of the drink in her hand remained in the glass.

“Easy there, you almost lost all of your drink. I didn’t expect someone to fall so hard for me,” he flirted shamelessly as he set the stranger to the ground, “and we’ve only just met. What’s your name, gorgeous?”

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Unknown

Something pulled her from her light reading.

“Am I real? I should hope so,” Karimah giggled behind the open pamphlet, still drinking, her chocolate brown eyes peering over the flimsy paper to settle on the sweet girl with hair like the fairest starlight. “Isla? Oh, what a pretty name! Are you here to appease the moon with your meaningful offerings as well? I—“ and then it clicked, to where she did not shy away but smiled enthusiastically through the rather welcoming surprise. The giggling from earlier doubled upon being reminded of such an iconic comment.

‘Like a confused dog that does not know what is going on is an accurate description for a girl like me.’ Karimah thought with childish glee, putting down the pamphlet to crawl closer to the comforting presence. It was in the way she originally tried to explain herself that drew the jinni to her. It magically dispelled whatever formality, whatever reservation she would have exhibited upon a first encounter.

Her little heart skipped a beat.

“Isla! Yes—Yes, of course! Nothing is wrong. How could there be,” she affirmed warmly, nursing her cup so vigorously, “when we are meeting for the first time? Sans screen, sans expertly taken selfies. You are just as beautiful in your pictures as you are in person. This is a momentous occasion. We should enjoy the festivities togeth. . .” she broke off, and Karimah became conscious that when the poor (she so wrongly assumed) girl misstepped, she was falling, and heading their way was a generous mass of liquid.

Her delayed bewilderment came to fruition: the audible gasp and the bodily jolt signifying the absurdity of the incoming splash. Karimah could taste it in her mouth, and the unattractive face she made as a natural consequence of the accidental spill was surely the cream topping.

“Cold!” she squeaked, unable to vocalize her unpreparedness beyond that one word before laughing off the shock with such wild merriment that she fell back upon the pristine sand and spilled her own drink.

Light-headed, with breast heaving and stomach taut from the convulsion of harmless chortling, Karimah pressed her hands to her flushed complexion in the hopes of ending her foolish gaiety.

She arched her back and squeezed out her very last titter. Her worries dissolved like lemon drops. Buzzed, she saw the world through rose-tinted glasses. That bliss was stopped short as an honest blush dusted her cheeks. What started as genuine, borderline goofy concern for the other woman turned into a different thing entirely.

The flustered dear turned her head away completely as the suggestive stain soaked into the white fabric of her guest’s top. The striking valley of her breasts were a distinctive feature that she courteously chose to ignore after a fortuitous glance.

It was clear Karimah didn’t have the right amount of exposure to people required to function properly, not like most.

“It was an accident,” unsure if she was referring to what she had done, or what was done to them; but she was apologetic either way. Karimah was about to magically strip the smell and the wet patch clean from her until she saw the salvaged culprit in the arms of a man that towered over the small group of misfits.

“Isla,” she whispered, doing her very best not to address her with her gaze, fearing the minor distraction, “I am very pleased to introduce Abelios. From what I can see, he seems to be courting a young woman with his wily charms and smoother-than-butter reflexes. I would make it known to them that we are here, but I also do not wish to interfere with this monumental rarity.”

If she could only hear herself talk. She sounded like she was narrating a documentary on animalistic mating rituals over posing sincere conversation. Suddenly, their drinks were replenished, and before them appeared a massive bucket of popcorn for the pair to share.

This was a night of first meetings and pleasant reunions. This was the sort of hope she needed to continue the search.

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Sunshine-Beach-18.7.2018

---

Though unsurprising given their never having met in purpose, it was clear at first the other woman was confused. But that passed, and her precious laughter only seemed to grow before crawling closer to Isla. Instantly she became more warm and comfortable, more open, she was relieved as formalities and awkward introductions were never her strong suit.

But once the floodgates of realisation opened from Karimah the words came rushing out and Isla’s eyes widened in an awkward and socially jumbled mess of realising how to respond to it all. She was excited to be meeting her for the first time? Awesome! Then the complement of her beauty struck the warrior’s head like a hammer of self worth that was stronger than any genuine attempt at flirtation could have stirred in her gut. But more than even that was the start of an offer to enjoy the festival in each other’s company, something that prompted a childlike and mischievous grin. “Yes we should! OMG, this is best day.”

There was more she had to say if only she was not moments away from a rather shocking interruption. She heard and felt the presence of someone behind her, someone stumbling and then came the fall. Pivoting on her heels with only a moment’s notice was a reflex she could act upon from her experience in combat, even despite the alcohol in her system. A tall glass of liquid had been in the person’s hand she realised, a realisation that hit her with the cold and wet force of it’s contents being thrown across her. The smell and colour as it soared through the air she quickly narrowed down to beer, but this made little difference to the fact she could feel it splash across her in one heavy slap. Her top, the cropped white shirt, was now soaked through completely from the largest impact zone of the spill, and with it’s alcoholic content slowly dripping down the recently sun kissed skin of her abbey midriff.

At first she did not think much of it beyond the humour and shock of such an event. A sudden gasp from the cold liquid making her freeze standing, her mouth open before she slowly leaked out a laughter at whatever had just happened moments after meeting her new friend. She looked over at the accidental attacker ready to tease them with a false response of aggression, but she noticed rather quickly they were pre occupied by a saviour of their own. With eyes once more spreading wise and pulling an expression which was cartoonish in it’s exaggerated response to such a display of PDA, she instead turned to Karimah with her returned laughter over what had just happened.

“If it is an accident i assume it is rude to throw them in the ocean.” she jested, looking down at her Djinn friend when she was surprised to see an uncontrollable blush over her friends cheeks. “Are you okay?” She asked confused, unsure why her friend would be the one showing signs of embarrassment. That was when she followed her eyes, moments before they were darted away. Underneath the top had been a sports bra, a comfortable one that kept most of her figure in place, however it left the opening at her cleavage far more easily defined especially now that they were revealed by the stain of her shirt. “Aaah…” Though clearly feeling somewhat awkward by the display, it didn’t seem to cause her much anxiety at least initially. “It is fine, we both have them. I can buy replacement at stall soon.”

Bringing back a rejuvenated smile of enthusiasm for their meeting Isla threw herself down onto the sand, initially landing splayed out like a starfish on her beck, she used her core to roll forward and sit cross legged facing Karimah. Through what she could only assume as her friend’s magic, their drinks became refilled and a bucket of popcorn appeared between them, and Isla’s features contorted into what she doubted was an attractive expression. A jaw and lips holding back something that could either be ravenous hunger or unstoppable rage, her eyes so focused on the popcorn it was as if she saw it as a threat or her ultimate desire, and her shoulders rose with the largest and slowest intake of breath she had made all day. “Karimah…” She exhaled the breath, looking up at Karimah’s eyes with the same look as she had given the popcorn. “You are beautiful and i cherish you.” Without a moment’s break she looked back at the snacks and scooped up as much of a handful as her grip could hold and began pilling them in two at a time, closing her eyes with each pair she consumed as if they were the true meaning of inner peace. Whatever concerns or insecurities she may have had for her stained clothing around strangers was forgotten, her comfort and joy was now solidified.

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Empty Re: In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance)

Post by Izou Fri Jan 07, 2022 4:26 pm

Despite his usual agility, Izou was strung halfway between trying to stop the beer from leaving his mug and trying to break his own fall. Somehow, all the agility that he was proud of seemed to have fizzled away in the cold night air, leaving him to tip forward with no control over the glass of beer and his own body.

He was already expecting him to fall into the sand, pick himself up and just apologize to the two girls that were soaked by his beer. But somehow, someone had rushed up to his side and with two muscular arms, swooped him up mid-fall and even turned him around into a bridal-stye carry.

Izou’s face went slack and his eyes glazed over as his brain processed the situation he was in. The man’s words went in one ear and out the other, but he knew the gist of what the man was saying. When he was finally set on the ground, Izou gave the man a blank look before turning his attention to his glass.

Miraculously, there was still a quarter of beer left in the mug. Without further ado, the silver-haired delinquent arched his head back and poured the liquid into his mouth in one large gulp.

When the last of the liquid was finished, Izou just dropped the glass from his grip and let it fall to the sand.

“Why.. Why can’t you just let me enjoy this party? Why can’t you just let me enjoy this party peacefully?” the swordsman mumbled as he took two wobbly steps back. His hands reached for the zipper of his hoodie, pulled up to reach the bottom of his chest, and tore the hoodie open furiously to reveal the bandage around his chest.

“This..! I blame these bandages!!” Izou remarked manically and out of nowhere fixed his stare at the man that had caught him earlier.

“Fall so hard for you? Gorgeous?” Izou repeated sarcastically as life began to return to his eyes and his posture began to straighten.

“I’m a freaking guy, for god-f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g-sake!!!!!”

The bandages around Izou’s chest was torn off fiercely and when he was finally done, Izou stood there like a crazed mutt. Messy hair, crazy eyes, mouth open, heavy breathing. The only thing that was missing would be saliva foaming at the corners of his mouth.

“I’m a guy! I’m a guy, goddamnit! I’m a guy, okay???!!!”

“I just want to have a drink peacefully. Maybe gamble a little bit. Okay, maybe drink and gamble like nobody cares! But why? Why is it so hard to be a guy?!!”

At this point, Izou had already sunk to the sand on his knees, nearly out of his mind.

Abe raised an eyebrow as he watched the nearly-fallen stranger down her drink and dropped the glass in the sand. That wasn’t the reaction he was expecting. He anticipated the perceived woman to acknowledge his flirting, or even reciprocate in some sense. It wasn’t a stretch to say he was disappointed. The victims of the splashing beer didn’t even register in his mind at the moment.

The titan crossed his arms and tilted his head as the stranger began to rant. What the heck was going on with this person? The hoodie was torn from her body to reveal bandages, which were blamed for ruining the beach party. Abe was confused, concerned, and slightly amused at the mental breakdown that was happening in front of him. It was then that the stranger revealed that she was, in fact, a he as he ripped the bandages off his chest.

Abe’s concern turned to surprise. He peered closer at the unhinged man, looking over his features. With that pretty blonde hair and such fair features, he’d assumed the fellow partier was a woman. As the crazed man sunk to his knees in the sand, Abe stepped closer.

“Damn dude, relax,” Abe addressed him with a short, lighthearted laugh. “Sorry for assuming you were a woman. But you should know,” he added, leaning in with a smirk on his face, “I don’t discriminate.” He gave a wink to the irate man, then straightened up and turned to the women who had been splashed with beer. The giant had been so focused on the subject of his flirting that he’d forgotten all about them.

Much to his pleased surprise, one of the ladies was quite familiar. He couldn’t forget that silvery white hair! “Karimah!” he exclaimed with a wide grin. “What are you doing here? How’s it going? Who's your friend?” He crouched down and gave her a friendly pat on the top of the head. As much as he wanted to give his friend a hug, he wasn’t sure if she was comfortable with that. It had been a while since they’d last met too. The kindhearted woman had helped him out in Hoptus Forest after he had been wormholed into Vyldermire. The world was actively trying to reject him and forced him to take on his other form, a giant stone titan. Karimah had saved his life, so he held a soft spot for her.

In the Name of the Moon! (Moondance) Unknown

She bounced a little in her ‘seat’ and clasped her hands together, the smile on her face emanated much of the warmth she felt. She highly enjoyed the silvery-haired girl’s presence and it showed.

“You should not throw them in the ocean,” Karimah said, taking her joke quite literally, “not without their consent. If there is consent, then there is happiness because they are accepting of your good spirit. Only then, Isla, will they want to throw you in the ocean too—all too happily. A pleasant way to play!”

She fiercely sipped her drink, placed the cup on the sand and somehow looked a little flushed to the ears. She was light-headed.

“We do,” she said innocently, looking down at herself to further confirm the statement. They both had the same thing, if Karimah one day decided never to switch to an alternative form, then certainly. She cupped her own breasts, eyes empty and mind filled to the brim with childish enlightenment. “Although, I suppose at the end of the day, I am nothing and nearly intangible.”

She was starting to act more like herself again, and as Isla sat before the djinn girl and professed her love, Karimah seemed to brighten up at the happiness the buttery popcorn brought to her new friend.  “I have a deep regard for you, as well, Isla. It brings me joy that I should be loved. That must mean the snack was to your liking? The feeling is quite nice. I will have to spoil you some more in the near future…as it doesn’t seem like I will be going home anytime soon. The future is unclear, except for one particular outcome. That is a discussion for another time.”

She quietly recalled Saeven’s vision.

Then her attention was drawn to the pair once again.

“She does not look overjoyed to be on the receiving end of his affections. Oh, Abelios, I am sorry.” Karimah mused sadly, with a hand over her mouth. “What is this? The girl he is holding in his arms is a — a boy?” She was embarrassed by her archaic mindset, “I must learn never to assume gender.”

Both hands flew to her face as the young man expressed his disdain. Karimah wanted to comfort him, but knew Abelios was kind enough to consider his feelings and trusted him to sort it out. The tall gentleman acknowledged them at long last, and she raised her eyes to his with the same heartwarming smile from before. “You remember my name. I am very honored.” She said with a small nod. “Knowing that you are well, Abelios, brings me joy. I am doing better than when I first arrived here. It was scary, unpredictable and, in some cases, confusing.”

She allowed his hand to hover over her head for a brief moment, wondering what it was he might have wanted to do and awkwardly bumped into it with a chuckle fleeing her lips. Like her friend, she was not sure if she could hug him, and so she went with the tamest option which was to gently grab his hand and give the back of it a loving pat.

“Oh! How rude of me. This is my friend, Isla, the popcorn lover.” She said, light humor hanging high upon her words. “And if you recall, Isla, this is my other friend. Abelios is such a lovely fellow. We must all eat together!”

Then her concern floundered over to the enraged boy. She crawled around Isla and Abelios, leaned over to where he sat tormented and noticed he had torn off his bandages. “I’m awfully sorry. Won’t you accept my apology and spend the night with us? You are the manliest man to ever man on this planet. If you do not wish to eat with us, then we may do another activity of your choosing!” Karimah had rather hoped that her oddball remark would console him. What a gathering tonight!
