Shane Stern
General
Alias/Nicknames: One-horned Dragon, Wingless Draconyte
Race: Anthros
Sub-species: Draconyte
Gender / Sexuality: Male / Hetero
Age: 20
Alignment: Adventurer’s Guild
Faction: Golden Titan
Persona
Personality: Generally, Shane sees the world in different shades of grey. To him, there's nothing as simple as right and wrong, black and white. In his view, what is right and what is wrong depends on the situation one is in and how one interprets it, followed relatively by the best decision one could make. While that makes him seem like a rational person, he also has a reckless side to him where he has a tendency to take unnecessary risks. Somehow, this recklessness was also one of his hallmark traits that made him an extremely capable assassin. He also has a poor sense in planning, typically just going with the flow and see where it leads to before making split second decisions to fix the situation.
With a new lease on life and a better perspective on his priorities, Shane seeks to atone for his past by doing more good. That doesn't mean that he's completely shunning his skillset as an assassin, but would prefer to use his skills in a more beneficial way instead. This leads to a decision to join the Golden Titans.
Despite bearing a dark past and still carrying a burden of guilt, Shane is an extremely confident and cheerful person. He takes everything in his stride with a likeable smile on his face, grinning ever wider in the face of adversity. The young Draconyte is also extremely helpful and would never turn away anyone in need of help. He loves making new friends and is equally easy to befriend, giving most people the impression that he might be too gullible. Shane also likes to flirt, albeit with an extremely low success rate. The pickup lines he believes to be solid and bulletproof are always the cheesiest of them all. The only times he's ever succeeded was if he kept his mouth shut and only spoke when needed.
With his background as an assassin, Shane usually slips back into old habits which might lead him to be accidentally and unnecessarily heavy with his attacks. He realizes this and is trying to work on this by using a shield as a weapon instead of an actual weapon, although many times, even with a shield as a weapon, his ability to subdue his enemies had never suffered in the least. When in the field, Shane is an exceptionally capable soldier, good with taking orders and carrying them out, but delivers abysmal results when put in a position of leadership. He doesn't have much sense for strategy and planning, preferring to take risks and gamble for the best results possible. Even so, Shane doesn't leave any loose ends and would always finish his jobs cleanly. As a general rule of thumb, Shane also does not hold any sort of hesitation when it comes to his enemies, regardless of gender, age or race. As long as the enemy has raised their arms against him, he fights. Furthermore, Shane has no qualms when it comes to taking lives, as long as it's the right thing to do.
History:
Born the second son of the Ardere clan, Shane was destined to live in the shadows of his older brother from the moment he was born. Since young, his older brother was the favored child. Their father personally groomed his older brother, training him in the arts of strategy and combat while Shane was sidelined. He was raised by a butler of the family, but with as much love and care as the butler could give him.
When Shane was fourteen, his older brother who was two years older was killed. The news came as a shock to the clan, impacting his father the most. For Shane, he felt nothing, not the slightest sense of loss. His brother and him was completely estranged, the two of them having never shared any sort of brotherly relationship in the slightest. After five days of locking himself in his room and moping, Shane's father would finally open the doors to his study and summon Shane to him. Obediently, the fourteen-year-old would be presented in front of his father and after a silent and scathing review of this son, his father would instruct Shane to follow him and expose him to something that would forever change Shane's world.
His father, Hadeon Ardere, brought Shane into a world of shadows and death. Hadeon Ardere was the commander-in-chief of an assassination group, an organization that only accepted male Draconytes into their ranks. As his father had put it, "There's light and dark to everything. Without darkness, one cannot know light. And that is our purpose." Shane finally knew of the reason for his brother's death; as simple as being killed in action. And how was the young Ardere son to react to all these? Yes. Shane accepted without any questions. He had grown up without the love of his father, and he craved for his father's acceptance so desperately that he would grab at any opportunity he could take if that meant getting his father's attentions.
The two years after that was relentless training after training, brutally beating into him everything he needed to master as an assassin. Like his brother, Shane got the personal grooming of his father. Unlike his brother, the younger son was much more of a disappointment. Shane would always fail at tactics and strategy, but made up for it in his own way with taking risks and unexpected maneuvers. Through this, Shane barely managed to gain his father's confidence in his abilities, always toeing the line where his father would just give up on him. And when he was finally deemed good enough, Shane was given his first job. As far as he knew, his brother, Corentin had gotten his first job at the age of twelve and had carried it out perfectly to a tee.
Shane completed his first job with difficulty, just barely completing it. A nod was all the response he got from his father. By then, the thirst for his father's approval had already consumed him. Shane was unfeeling towards the guilt and weight of his first kill, of taking a life for the first time. At this point, what he wanted approval from his father instead of just barely scraping by, nothing but a shadow of his brother. He wanted to prove to his father that he was more than capable, that he was as good as his brother, if not better. And he would do anything to show that.
At sixteen, Shane had proven himself over and over again in a short two years since his first kill. Every kill after that just got easier and easier, to the point that the young man was already no longer batting an eye at taking a life. Every kill was another step towards to getting his father's attention, every perfect kill for his recognition. And he succeeded. Ranked as one of the strongest few in the whole organization, Shane had finally gotten his father's trust. In gaining this trust, he was entrusted with an extremely job of assassination a dignitary of the Demon race.
But Shane fell in love with the daughter of the dignitary instead. Her name was Kyoko, and it was love at first sight, something that struck him when he was scoping out his target and the people around him before going in for the kill. Having known nothing but training to kill and kill and kill, love with the opposite gender was a very foreign concept to him and that concept overpowered him. Giving in to his emotions, Shane temporarily forgot his orders and approached the daughter of the dignitary and eventually befriended her. Within a short time, they had already grown close, with the girl even reciprocating his feelings. For her, it had been love at first sight as well when she met him for the first time.
After two months of giving random excuses on why he hadn't completed his job, Shane finally made up his mind. Getting to know the girl had broadened his horizons, the way he thought and showed him the monstrosity he had become in pursuit of recognition of a man who had never treated him as a son but only as a tool.
Emboldened by his love for the girl, Shane walked up to his father and confronted the man for the first time in his life.
"I want to quit," was all he said before his life was upended again. There were no negotiations at all. His father's face was one of disgust and contempt as Shane was overpowered by the other assassins, struggling to no avail. He was captured and thrown into a holding cell, and at the end of his third day being imprisoned, he was dealt a terrible blow. The dignitary he was supposed to kill, had been completely disposed of along with hi family. No one had been spared. And their deaths had been ordered to be cruel as possible, every single one of them carved up and hanged up to bleed to their death.
For the next two months, Shane was repeatedly tortured. His father still saw the value in him as an assassin, but he no longer needed one with a will. He wanted to break his son, to turn him into a mere shell of his former self, one that would accept orders and do nothing else. The tortures weren't just physical. Shane was also subjected to mental torture. Everything his father could think of to break his will and turn him into a mindless soldier, he did. But no matter what he was subjected to, the burning flame in Shane's eyes as he glared at his captors never died down.
By the end of the two months, Shane was a wreck. When his father had finally accepted the reality that his son wasn't going to concede, he had cruelly ordered for Shane's wings to be clipped, sawed off at the bones, leaving nothing but two stumps on Shane's back. His father made it clear for him. If he didn't want to surrender, then he could just rot in the dungeon forever. Removing the wings was his way of removing Shane's hope, hoping to crush this failure of a son's mind.
But even with no wings and a horn broken, Shane's will remained unbreakable. The hate he held for his father and his corps grew by the day. Clinging onto nothing but the notion of revenge, Shane stubbornly survived every single hellish day until the opportunity to escape finally arrived. His escape was hard-earned, with blood and sweat, but escaped he did.
When he had finally recovered to his full health, Shane finally came out of hiding and walked in the open. He discarded his last name, disgusted by it and took on a new last name instead. He kept his first name, having no intention of hiding his identity. Now known as Shane Stern, the young Draconyte moves around openly as a challenge to his father and his organization, knowing that they were still keeping tabs on him and daring them to make a move on him while he sought to repair what was left of his broken life.

Hey @Shane , before I can approve this, I just need you to extend your character's personality a little bit as the minimum wc required for it is 200 words. Bump when done and I'll take a look~

But caution for those who really think that of him, for the young man conducts himself so casually because he possesses the power and strength to make those who take advantage of him pay back many times over. Behind the big smile sleeps a person you never want to be enemies with for he never walks away from a fight. As a hot-blooded young Draconyte, Shane is also extremely interested in the opposite sex, regardless of race. He’s extremely bad with flirting, but as his sculpted body and tall height does the talking for him, he thinks that he’s got a silver tongue.
History: When the Anthros has been rescued from their predicament by the Gaiyans, the Ardere Clan was one of the few Draconyte clans that had quickly risen up in terms of strength, joining the ranks of the protectors of the race, warding off any potential enemies. As the eldest son of the Ardere Clan’s third generation, a clan that has prospered in Miriad under the leadership of the Draconis clan, Shane is expected to inherit his father and grandfather’s legacy by joining the army of the Draconis. His family’s contributions would secure him a high enough position to start making his mark but Shane would not have it. Coupled with an arranged marriage in the works for him, with the second daughter of another equally high-standing Draconyte family, Shane’s life was smooth-sailing. However, after a beautiful and intensive night with the jaw-dropping beautiful Draconyte that was supposed to be his fiancee, Shane realized that this was not the life that he wanted and packed his stuff, running away from Miriad. As a young man, he wants to spread open his wings and travel as far as he can, to venture out and experience what the world has to offer instead of playing out a life that has already been arranged for him.
Likes:- Coffee - With at least three cups per day, Shane usually takes it black or just with milk.
- Sourdough bread - What he deems as the perfect companion to coffee, Shane just can’t have enough of it.
- Relaxing - The young Draconyte likes nothing than to just
Dislikes:- Monotony - Shane craves for newness in his life, for challenges, for surprises, for happiness and even despair if it would make his life more colorful and one that can be called well-lived at the end of it
- Oppression - A trait that might be related to being an Anthros, Shane is unable to tolerate oppression of any magnitude and would always be quick to act against it
- Exercise - Despite his sculpted body, Shane absolutely hates any form of exercise for the point of getting into shape. He’s only lucky he has a body with a crazy metabolism.
Goal/Aspiration: To live a life of adventure and to never cower in the face of adversity. Shane is determined to live every day to its fullest, to soak in all that the world has to experience. He’s also interested to see how many girls he can score.
Key Fear/Adversary: A youth that’s just stepped into a larger world, Shane’s dauntlessness has yet to be broken.Appearance
Height: 6’0”
Body Type: Tall and muscular
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Skin Tone: Fair
Overall Appearance:
Shane has two appearances: one, his human appearance where he hides his horns and wings, and two, where he reveals his Draconyte features when he uses his magic. Shane uses magic to hide his Draconyte features but when he is actively using magic for combat, all of the draconian features will appear. In full Draconyte form, red scales appear at the side of his face, moving upwards and forming horns. Shane's horns are asymmetrical, with the right one being a short one while the left horn grows longer with two short spikes branching out from it.
As his father had put it, "There's light and dark to everything, and to the most glorious of armies, they most definitely need someone to do things in the dark." Shane finally knew of the reason for his brother's death; as simple as being killed in action.
Now known as Shane Stern, the young Draconyte moves around openly as a challenge to his father and his organization, knowing that they were still keeping tabs on him and daring them to make a move on him while he sought to repair what was left of his broken life and also to atone for what he had done.
